Yes he spent a million on shards, I couldn't find his original thread to confirm, but lets assume he bought them for the typical price of 100g each. The shards exchange at 5 shards for 1 gift. If he just sells the unopened presents at the low end price of 500g, he'd make back his investment. If he could sell them all at the high end of 1k each, he'd double his money. So, chances of making close to that much back? pretty good. Chances of making even more? Not bad, probably won't get quite double, but there will be profit.

I hope the collector's are still there by the time I get home from work so I can get rid of the 200 some shards I have in my inventory. I wish I knew about them before I went to sleep but ah well guess you cant have everything.

OMG this is just like the time I sold all my XM Radio Stock at 11.35 right before it soared to 30 a share.

Last night I thought "OK better do something with all these shards..."

Default I Am A NOOB!

So last night I gave all my ccs away after I decided to call it quits on my wintersday experience! (I gave away about a 100, assuming people would be happy to buy cc weapons with them).
So this afternoon I found out about the collector... blehh .....
I figured I could still join the fun by buying some ccs.... I bought a few (not hundreds) for various prices, around 20g a piece...
Now here comes the fun part I wanted to share with you all! I got into a discussion with a player and made a transcript of it because it was sooo much fun!

So, I said on local channel:
"Buying CCS 20G each!"

a player called 'Healer Master something' whispers he would sell me for 200g and then calculated a total of 4,6k or something...

I told him i would not pay 200g a piece but 20g... here comes what follows:

Noob

lol
noob!
who pays 200g for a ccs is a noob!

hey you sat at the chat 200g foreach
than shut up

no, shut up yourself,

and now good bye

I said 20!

and f*ck you

learn to behave and read

shut up dam it!

lol
where are you from?
you sound a bit uptight

omg shutup

I will not stand by silent whilst being insulted mate

omg what a dam noob

look "another player" sells it for 100g a piece (saw it on local channel)
that is a bit better, but still a lot...
can u say anything else than 'noob' and 'omg'?

yea...
f*ck you
like it :]?

I think i will post it on guru so we can all have a laugh

well you see... i try not to speak to much with a stupid noob
this is realy waste time of mine
and about you?

do you have parental issues you would like to discuss with me perhaps?

you just crap

you seems so uptight

you dont evin worth my time

'are not' would be correct grammar if i am not mistaken

omfg
cant you just shut up?!?
you f*cking stupid?!?

I could but you are so amusing to talk to!

f*ck yourself noob just bequeit!

did you ever have sex with someone? you seem to enjoy the F word so much!

on you?
yeah....

( )
do you honestly believes someone is willing to pay 200g a piece? Come on, be honest!

well
actoutly they did

mkay... good luck my dear friend!

(it was in the European district btw...)

^^ IMO you sound as bad, if not worse than the person who simply misread the local chat. Act mature and polite or just ignore him... no need to get into a pointless noob calling fest.
And 20g is too cheap for ccs since now they have a use besides making weps.

well, I do not think I sound as bad, I do not use foul language....
And I would usually ignore was it not for his immediate aggresive reaction and noobcalling....
Regarding the price. A present costs 5 CCS. 200g would mean 1k right? Is a present worth 1k? or even 500g? No, it is not...
People pay what they want... I had my share of wintersday anyway!

I sold 1,000 CCS yesterday thinking they we're going to be useless. I guess I got screwed over a bit. I still had some left but I'm not farming more of them again. Nice surprise A-net.

Here's what could happen to Kurt(who managed to pull through by the skin of his teeth)
1 million spent, 20,000 shards gained
5 shards a present= 4000 presents
500g a present(sold unopened)=2 million
1k a present (sold unopened) =4 million

So even if he sells them cheap, he stands to make a profit.I still hope they give him a boss namesake though.

After the final "appearance" in Kamadan, I headed back bleary-eyed to LA with 2 stacks of ccs and serious considerations of just merching them -- have a full set of cc weapons and didn't feel like hassling to sell the, then worthless, shards. Plus, my inventory is almost completely full on all characters/mules/storage. Then I noticed the new npc. Thanks ANet! Lol

If only I had a place to store all this stuff...

ACK! Does no one go to the main site?

"Candy Cane Shards: Collect these colorful fragments by questing and competing. The outcome of Wintersday hangs in the balance, and your contribution of Candy Cane Shards may make all the difference. Besides, you never know what somebody might trade for these once the festivities come to a close. Tip: Hold onto those shards until the Wintersday finale and use them for good (or mischievous) intent!"

Sorry, pet peeve of mine, but they TOLD everybody to hold on to them! I'm just shocked to be hearing people on the forums, who are far more informed, in general, talking about getting rid of ccs. Tsk Tsk...

Most people on these forums are quite aware of that statement. The problem was not that people didn't read that statement but that the statement itself was nebulous. If you look through recent thread on this topic you will see that many people interpreted that remark in different ways. It is easy to say, after the event, hey look you all should have known but at the time A-nets intentions for the shards were nebulous.

Use them for good or mischievous intent meant that they'd be used in the finale to support Dwayna or Grenth - and they were.

These collectors were probably not in the original picture, but they didn't expect the CCS's to be collected in such a grand scale (many many people getting THOUSANDS of them) because of that 1 sentence, so they provided a sink for them.

This is just my gross personal opinion though, I haven't read this whole thread.
